Brand and product design for a rental marketplace
Renthouse needed a brand and product design that worked for both short-stay and long-term rentals. We delivered the identity, the design system, and the product surfaces that hold both flows.

Starting point
Rental marketplaces have two very different user expectations: a weekend booking feels like a hotel booking, a year-long lease feels like signing a contract. The brand and the product had to hold both without splitting in two.
Marketplace UX is unforgiving — every extra tap costs you a listing or a booking. The brand has to carry weight without adding visual cost.
Decisions
- One identity, two flows — short-stay and long-term differ in product but not in brand.
- Design system as the spine, not surface-level skinning.
- Photography treated as part of the trust signal — properties on the marketplace earn or lose trust on their photos.
- Listing UX optimised for both renter and host — both sides use the same flows for different reasons.
Execution
Working Figma library, documented principles, and product flows redesigned around the actual booking and leasing tasks.
Photography guidelines integrated into the listing flow so hosts can't ship low-quality images by accident — protecting both sides of the marketplace.
“Marketplace UX is unforgiving. Every extra tap is a listing or a booking gone.”

Result
- An identity that holds both rental modes.
- A design system the product team uses to ship new features.
- Photography guidelines built into the listing flow.
- Listing quality up across the board — guidelines do the work that would otherwise need manual moderation.
